Standing with the Oppressed: Why Supporting Iran’s Anti-Israel Resistance Is a Matter of Justice
When you imply that there is no reason to support Iran in the ongoing war between Iran and Israel in the Middle East, you seem to be presenting your argument as someone claiming authority over fundamental Islamic knowledge. However, a true Muslim’s responsibility is to engage in deep self-reflection regarding their knowledge, position, and intentions before expressing an opinion on any issue.
You might think that from the perspective of Islamic fundamentals, creed (Aqidah), and monotheism (Tawheed), Iran is a misguided state. But your assessment can only be considered valid if it is grounded in thorough scholarly and religious reasoning—not in fragmented political bias. Islam does not endorse narrow partisan views. Instead, it upholds justice, fairness, and a strong stance against oppression as its highest principles. Therefore, when you oppose Iran solely based on Aqidah and claim that your stance is justified by Islamic principles, the question remains—are you truly representing Islam, or merely promoting your personal ideology?
Is your knowledge so limited that it fails to understand the reason to stand with Palestine? Even a person without deep Islamic knowledge but with a basic sense of conscience can grasp the importance of standing by the oppressed when they see Muslims’ blood being shed. In truth, showing solidarity with Palestine and standing by the resistance is not the exclusive responsibility of any particular sect or school of thought. A person of conscience—Muslim or not—would be shaken upon seeing the bloodshed of innocent women and children. If, as Muslims, we fail to stand for justice simply because Iran is Shia, then our moral compass itself becomes questionable.
If the graves of Palestinian children and the cries of mourning mothers fail to bring tears to our eyes, then though our eyes may have vision, our hearts are surely blind. If we cannot even express support from afar against Israel’s tyranny, then we have no claim to true Islamic understanding.
You cannot vilify Iran's struggle to oust a bastard state like Israel merely because Iran is Shia. Regardless of Iran’s political or religious ideology, if they are resisting through military, diplomatic, or economic means for their own liberation and that of others, rejecting that struggle based solely on theological differences is an inhumane and ignorant act. Labeling Iran’s stance as ‘Shia’ and thus turning it into a target of hatred exposes the intellectual bankruptcy of those who seek to confine Islam within the narrow borders of their personal ideology. Throughout Islamic history, standing up to oppressors has always been an act beloved to Allah. If today Iran is resisting Israel, then that resistance should be acknowledged as part of the broader pursuit of justice.
One thing is clear to us: the fall of Israel would signal liberation for Palestine. It would not just be the collapse of a state—it would mark the end of a century-long era of oppression, occupation, and injustice. If Israel is destroyed, Palestinian children will no longer fall asleep to the sound of bombs, pregnant mothers will no longer cry in agony, and the land will return to its rightful owners. Those working toward that downfall should be judged not by their Aqidah but by their intentions, actions, and commitment to justice.
Anyone who engages in intellectual gymnastics over Iran’s Shia identity in the current context is intellectually handicapped—and no sane conscience would disagree. In today’s world, building political ideologies and stoking religious division based on Shia-Sunni differences is a strategy of anti-Islamic forces. It is entirely fair to question the knowledge and conscience of those who fall into this trap and sow discord among Muslims. They fail to understand that Muslim unity is the greatest fear of our enemies. So, the time has come to break through this intellectual paralysis and stand united—for truth, justice, and the unity of the Ummah.
