India Must Accept Reality in Bangladesh
When the Indian-backed Awami League government collapsed and its fascist Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina fled to India, the responsibility of rebuilding Bangladesh fell upon the interim government, led by Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus. Since assuming office, the interim government has been navigating immense challenges, both domestic and international. Among them, India has been relentless in its efforts to reclaim its lost dominance over Bangladesh. Through chaos, interference, and covert maneuvers, New Delhi has attempted to impose its agenda. Yet, it has consistently found itself unable to counter the intellect and diplomatic skill of Dr. Yunus.
India’s repeated conspiracies—sometimes overt, sometimes covert—have ended in failure. The latest attempt to influence the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) election was no different. Despite employing various tactics, the outcome was humiliation and disappointment. The decisive victory of the Islami Chhatra Shibir panel served as a striking demonstration of the student body’s deep attachment to Islam and their enduring trust in politics rooted in morality and faith. Conversely, the anti-Shibir panels suffered crushing defeats.
This election revealed an undeniable truth: despite years of propaganda and external interference, the heart of Bangladesh’s student community remains firmly aligned with Islamic values. No matter how aggressively India attempts to manipulate, the young generation’s loyalty to Islam and their commitment to ethical politics remains unshaken.
India’s efforts to halt the rise of Islamists in Bangladesh are nothing new. From political meddling to media propaganda and clandestine plots, every tactic has been deployed. Yet, each has ended the same way—in futility. The people of Bangladesh, and especially its students, have repeatedly and unequivocally affirmed their support for Islam and for political movements that embody moral integrity.
In this shifting reality, India now faces a sobering truth: obstructing the advance of Islamists in Bangladesh is beyond its reach. Reluctantly, and with heavy hearts, Indian policymakers are beginning to recognize that coexistence and diplomatic engagement with Bangladesh’s Islamist forces is the only viable option left.
The message for India is therefore clear and unmistakable: accept reality. The Islamists of Bangladesh are growing stronger with each passing day. The profound love for Islam that resides in the hearts of the Bangladeshi people cannot be erased by conspiracy, trickery, or coercion. It is time for India to understand that the future of Bangladesh will be shaped by the will of its people—and that will remains deeply rooted in Islam.
