Bangladesh’s Political Corruption and Our Spiritual Decline: A Parallel Journey to Destruction

Allah the Almighty created mankind and the jinn solely for His worship.

This worship is not limited to just prayer and fasting; rather, every action, every behavior, even our thoughts—if done with the intention of pleasing Him—are counted as acts of worship. Yet most of us have forgotten this fundamental purpose and have become blinded by the allure of worldly life. We treat temporary pleasures and material luxuries as the ultimate goal of life. As a result, worshiping Allah, following His commands, and walking in the footsteps of the Messenger (peace be upon him) have become secondary in our lives. And yet, we were created solely to worship the Most Merciful, who brought us into existence from nothing.

But forget worship—we are unable even to grasp the truth in its real sense.

Though we consider ourselves knowledgeable, true knowledge—the kind that touches the heart—is something our hearts do not accept. We remain preoccupied with the outward realities, avoiding matters of the soul and the eternal outcome. Many think they understand everything, but they fail to realize that in order to truly grasp the truth, one must purify the heart, let go of arrogance, and humbly ask Allah for guidance. Our spiritual blindness is so deep that we deny the truth even when it's right before our eyes—as though we have eyes, yet behave as if we are blind.

Each of us has a heart, yet we do not perceive. We have eyes, but we do not truly see. Instead, we pretend not to see.

The words of Allah reach our ears but do not enter our hearts—because we ourselves have shut the doors of our hearts. We understand, but we do not accept. We see, but we do not perceive. We hear, but we do not truly listen. This spiritual condition is steadily dragging us toward destruction. We have become a people who recognize the truth, yet fear to accept it—because accepting it would mean changing our way of life, and we are not ready for that change.

As a result, we are often deprived of the blessing of truly believing in Allah and His Messenger.

Faith (Iman) is not just about verbal declaration; rather, it manifests through deep conviction in the heart and righteous actions. Yet even when we stand at the doorway to this blessing, we turn away—because our hearts are impure, our thoughts are self-centered, and our lives are directed toward worldly gain. We make supplications, but without heartfelt sincerity. We perform prayers, but without concentration. We know the Sunnah of the Prophet, yet we do not embody it in our lives. As a result, faith fails to illuminate our lives. We merely wrap ourselves in a stale tradition of superficial religiosity and continue to deceive ourselves.

Now, regarding whether the demonic actions of Bangladesh’s political parties need historical explanation—

Before attempting to analyze that, what the conscience cannot resist saying is this:

The political history of this country is not only bloodstained, but even more so corrupted—filled with lies, deceit, and moral decay. The so-called leaders have not led the nation forward, but have pushed it into division and exploitation. Party interests and hunger for power have become the only ideals. The people are being used, religion is being commercialized, and falsehood is weaponized in this sick game for power. Though this reality may call for analysis, it is so stark and inhumane that any person with a conscience feels heartbroken—an inexplicable sorrow grips the heart even before attempting to explain it.

In short, it seems the only thing keeping us from hell is the fact that we haven’t died yet.

With the way we are living, the question of standing at the gates of Paradise doesn’t even arise—instead, every sin, every act of heedlessness, and every faithless behavior is pushing us closer to Hell. If not for Allah’s mercy that we are still alive, we might already be destined for eternal punishment in our current sinful state. Death itself is a mercy for us, because it still gives us a chance to repent and return. But if we do not wake up now, even death will not save us. Only Allah’s mercy and a sincere effort to return to the right path can rescue us from this terrifying fate.
